Requirements/ Skills
- 1+ years experience in floristry, flower farming or related fields
- G level license, own transportation
- Able to bend, stoop, squat and kneel for extended amounts of time
- Ability to do repetitive and sometimes physically taxing labour
- Able to lift 50lbs from floor to chest height
- Able to stand on concrete for extended amounts of time in safety footwear
- Able to work in variety of weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, cold, sleet etc
- Knowledge of plants and flowers, from seedlings to harvest is an asset
- Willingness to take direction and learn
- Reliable and on time
Duties
- Watering, weeding and caring for greenhouse and plants early in the season
- Harvesting flowers from field as needed
- Designing hand tied bouquets when required
- Cleaning and prepping pails and buckets
- Clean and bunch flowers for wholesale and retail sale- need good quality control skills as well as an ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Possibility for more planning/managerial roles in subsequent seasons
- Confident and capable driving pickup truck and/or transit van to the Junction area in Toronto before continuing on to a farmers’ market
- $22-$25 an hour depending on skill level and experience
- Monday to Friday, 7am-3pm (potential for different hours Tuesday- later shift at a farmers' market)
- late April-mid October, roughly 22-24 weeks
