Floral availability typically starts in early to mid May. We grow over one hundred floral varieties and are proud of each one. We grow peonies, sunflowers, dahlias, hydrangea, lisianthus, tulips, daffodils, lilacs and many other rare and specialty cut flowers. As with all field grown flowers, these images and start dates are a generalisation of what to expect. Flowers are of course weather dependant and so these are just guidelines. Please note that many of these images are not our own, and are general photos of varieties that we grown. If you'd like to see what we have available in real time during the growing season, please have a look at our Instagram page!
May
May is when spring flowers first start becoming available. May is filled with fragrant flowers, from garden roses to apple blossoms. May is also the month when temperatures and weather can be the most difficult to anticipate. Highlights include double tulips, fragrant roses, ranunculus, and the ever stunning lily of the valley.
June
June is when field flowers and perennials start growing and blooming. Some of the most beautifully and gently scented flowers that we grow are available in June, like our local peonies, lilac, stock and sweet peas. June truly is peony paradise, as it is usually the only month that local peonies are available.
July
July is when the annuals really start blooming, and many varieties that start blooming in July will continuously bloom until September. July has some beautiful colour options, as bright sunflowers and rudbeckias start to bloom, but gentle coloured nigella, foxglove and sweet peas are available as well.
August
August truly is the most abundant month at the farm, with the highest volumes and variety available. Dahlias and lisianthus both are available beginning in August, and they truly are some of the most stunning flowers available in Ontario. Marigold and celosia are available as well, and August is truly the month with the most freedom and creativity.
September
September begins to see the slight shift into more fall coloured flowers, as coloured foliage and autumn berries and grasses become available. Dahlias and lisianthus continue to bloom and September is a gorgeous month of late summer and early autumn colour palettes.
October
October marks the steady decline of field availability as the winter grows ever closer. Availability of most flowers ends at frost, which is typically around or slightly after Thanksgiving. Farmer's markets end in October and we have limited amounts of tender blooms. Dried flowers, grasses and rosehips are some of the few things that are available until the end of the month.
